Amelia Laughlin trained in ballet and contemporary dance from an early age in San Francisco, California. She further developed her artistry in the scope of improvisation and choreography. She performed repertory from choreographers and companies including Robert Battle, Hofesh Shechter, Chunky Move, Batsheva, Alvin Ailey, Jiri Kylian, Cunningham and Forsythe. Her favorite contemporary techniques included gaga, countertechnique and contact improvisation.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and minor in Digital Arts from California Institute of the Arts in 2017. In Los Angeles, she worked as a freelance dancer and editor of dance films until she discovered a passion for aerial arts in 2019, immersing herself in the world of circus and never looking back. She graduated first class with a BA (Hons) degree from the National Centre for Circus Arts with a specialization in aerial hoop.

Since then, she has expanded her repertoire to chains with a mission to uncover unconventional phrasing. Her work is nuanced and cinematic, exploring the complexities of female power, sensuality, and repression. An avid cinephile with an intuitive eye for visual storytelling, she constructs fully embodied characters with rawness and depth, blending her sensibilities for movement and aesthetics.
